Saturday night I've been with Astrocampania to Petina, to the astronomical observatory of Petina.
The largest amateur observatory.
The dome leg metal frame construction insulated with non-motorizated opening and automatically syncrhonizated with the rotation motor of the telescope.
Structure of telescope, anchored to a pier, autonomous from the rest of building with indipendent foundation.
Dub optika Telescope- Ritchey Chretien primary mirror with glass-ceramic by Lomo of St. Petersbourg, with a diemeter of 850 mm focal lenght of 6.80m. Support: carbon fiber tube.
I observed:
M57: the subject that struck me most. M57 is the famous ring nebula in Lyra's costellation; is example of a planetary nebula and the object to be observed in the northen hemisphere summer.
It is an example of our Sun will be after it has finished all its nuclear fuel.
M51: the famous whirpool galaxy. This object are two distinct galaxies in the costellation of Canes Venatici.
M51 is the dominating member of small group of galaxies. As it is about 37 millions light years distant. It is actually a big and luminous galaxy.
Saturn: obviously with a telescope of 8 feet, the feeling was to stay on Cassini. You could see the separation of the planet and rings.you could also see Titan, the most famous and interesting satellite of Saturn.
M104: known as sombrero galaxy. Galaxy the most beautiful for me.
It is a galaxy in the costellation of Virgo. As it is 29 milllion light years distant.his vision of cutting his dark band has made it famous and it is a privileged object astrophotography.
The observatory amateur of Petina.
