The fifty-first session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. 10-21 February 2014

I am currently in Vienna for my internship to Space Generation Advisory Council, is a global non-governmental organisation and network which aims to represent university students and young space professionals to the United Nations, space agencies, industry and academia.
I am attending an important space conference held  at the United Nation Office at Vienna, Vienna International Center and tomorrow is the last day of this exciting conference where I had the opportubity to meet and know so many people, companies and space agencies all around the world.

During this two week session, the 76 Member States, observers as the European Union or the European Spatial Agency, scientists and experts will discuss an agenda prepared by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (OOSA).

The growing number of users, and thus of objects in the outer space, increases risks of space debris and collisions.

The long-term sustainability of outer space activities is currently a matter of particular importance, where France is deeply involved. The guidelines prepared by the Working Group on the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space will then be an important point discussed by the Subcommittee.

The participants will also examine the use of space technology and its applications in support of sustainable development goals, in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals.
